Most international students and graduates, require a visa to study or to remain in the UK after graduation. A student visa allows you to reside in the UK throughout your course of study, whereas a Graduate visa enables you to stay for a minimum of 2 years following the successful completion of a UK-based course.
While on a Student Visa you may bring your partner and children as dependents. This will include additional costs and you must prove that you can financially support all dependents and all adult dependents meet the necessary requirements to support themselves. Once you have put forth an application and it has been granted, you may travel to the UK. You will be able to move to the UK within a week of the commencement of your course if you are applying for a course that is 6 months’ long or less. For courses that are longer than 6 months, you may move to the UK up to a month prior to its starting date.
The cost of your Student Visa will depend on whether you are making an initial application or applying to extend your current stay. An application from outside the UK will cost £363, for an extension you will have to pay £490 as well as an additional cost for any dependents. There would be additional immigration health surcharge, biometric enrolment fee and optional priority service fee.
