If you want to set up or run a business in the United Kingdom, it is likely that you are going to need a Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa. This visa is designed for anyone that is from outside of Switzerland and the European Economic Area (EEA). “Visa declined” – two words you don’t want to hear. Below, we take a look at some of the most common reasons for UK Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa refusal, so you can avoid making these errors.

Common Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa application errors to avoid

Common Entrepreneur Visa Application Errors

You have not shown evidence of a maintenance fund

You will need to possess a minimum fund for your maintenance when making an application. The Home Office requires evidence that you can support yourself. This fund needs to be in your own account. It cannot be in anyone else’s. Even if you are 1p under the required amount, your Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa could be denied.

You have not shown credible sources of funds

If you have not shown a credible source of your funds, this could raise some doubt in the minds of UKBA. This is another reason for visa refusal.

A poor business plan

If you submit a poor business plan, you’re likely to be refused a Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa. The business plan is vital because it helps UKBA to determine whether or not you are a genuine entrepreneur. There have been a lot of applicants that have simply downloaded their business plan from the internet. You will never get away with this!

Mistaking investment funds for maintenance funds

Going back to maintenance funds, a lot of applicants also make the mistake of assuming the investment funds for the business will constitute as maintenance funds. The £200,000 required is not to be used as maintenance.
