What are the charges and processing durations?

You should pay an application fee of £298 and a Immigration Health Surcharge fee of £1,035 per year. In addition, you must have at least £1,270 in your bank account to show that you can support yourself once you arrive in the UK.

The decision to issue a visa is made within 3–8 weeks, depending on your location.

What documentation and information are required when applying for this visa?

When submitting your application, you must provide:

  • Certificate of Sponsorship number.

  • Occupation code.

Yes. Global Business Mobility Visa routes allows you to bring your spouse and children to the UK as dependents if they meet the relevant relationship, age, maintenance and relevant requirements.

Is it possible to extend a Global Business Mobility Visa, and what's the process for that?

The possibility and extension period for each type of visa is different:

  • Senior or Specialist Worker Visa: you can extend your visa for 5 years in any 6-year period if your salary is less than £73,900 per annum or 9 years in any 10-year period if your salary is over £73,900 per annum.
  • Graduate Trainee: You cannot extend your visa, so you must apply for a new visa.
  • UK Expansion Worker Visa: you can extend your visa for 12 months.
  • Secondment Worker Visa: you can extend your visa for 12 months.
  • Service Supplier Visa: you can extend your visa for 6 or 12 months, depending on the trade agreement.

To extend your visa, you must apply via the UK Home Office website.

What is the application process for the Global Business Mobility Visa routes?

Global Mobility Visa application process includes several stages. They include obtaining a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) from a Licensed UK employer and submitting an online application via the UKVI website along with the necessary supporting documents.

You also have to verify your identity. Depending on your type of identification documents, you can do this at a visa centre or using the app called UK Immigration: ID Check.

Can I obtain Indefinite Leave to Remain in future on the Global Business Mobility route?

The Global Business Mobility Visa is a temporary path which does not lead to Settlement. In other words, you would not qualify for ILR or Permanent Residence despite the time spent on this route. Therefore, it is advisable to switch to another Visa category which leads to Settlement, such as the Skilled Worker Visa, Partner Visa or Family Visa if you wish to gain Indefinite Leave to Remain and British Citizenship in future.

Is there an English Language requirement for the Global Business Mobility Visa?

No, there is no English test or qualification needed for the Global Business Mobility route. Therefore, this route is very practical for foreign companies to send experienced staff efficiently to the UK.

What are the advantages of obtaining ILR compared to other immigration statuses?

While obtaining ILR after 5 years through the qualifying route that leads to Settlement, a permanent resident does not automatically become a citizen of the UK. However, they acquire almost all the rights that allow them to live, work, engage in business, and own property in the country without limitations.

Can dependents be included in the ILR application after 5 years, and what's the process for that?

Only a certain list of persons is included in the application for indefinite leave to remain after 5 years. The rest of the family members must submit their own application for ILR after 5 years.

What documents do I need to provide for ILR?

It requires proof of continuous residence in the UK, biometric data, as well as a fairly large amount of additional documentation approved by the government.

What is the difference between 5 year and 10 year route?

Most Visa routes that lead to Settlement require 5 years' UK residence, except for some accelerated 3 years' route. There may be 2 circumstances where you may apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain after accumulating 10 years of UK residence: 

1. If you have spent 10 years in the UK under various qualifying Visas. This is known as Indefinite Leave to Remain under the Long Residence route

2. In certain cases where Leave was granted under Discretionary, Private Life or Human Rights grounds, you may be placed on a 10-year route towards Settlement. In other words, you would need to complete 10 years under the latter route to qualify for Indefinite Leave to Remain.
